Skagway, AlaskaSkagway is a goldrush town close to the goldfields of the Yukon in Canada. The view is from the verandah of our cabin on a Princess Cruise in June, 1998. Helicopters take off regularly from the shore, taking tourists up to land on a glacier. There is also a train which travels up Chilkoot pass to the Canadian border, only about 15 miles away. This town is the only one in southern Alaska to which you can drive from the lower 48. |
